About me
For 8 years I have studied Acting within both an acting and school environment, learning the history, influence and roles of different practitioners in constructing a meaningful piece of art. For example Stanislavski, Brecht, Scott Graham and John Godber. I appreciate Godber especially for the comedic features that he integrates into his plays for example 'BOUNCERS'. A result of being practical in my studying and what I have reflected on, I have grasped the concept of being able to devise performances based on certain stimuli given. Having performed in several school productions has allowed me to develop creative insight. My love for acting has sprouted from an early age. The way Tom was able to portray his character and bring his scenes to life inspired me to be able to give that same entertainment to an audience. What I love the most about acting is the joy of participating in productions that provide good and memorable entertainment for an audience. The idea of me developing as an Actor in terms of my dramatic theory and physical skills excites me along with being around peers who have the same intentions of gaining knowledge. My ambition through studying acting is to pursue a career across the world, I have been fortunate to have participated in school productions, playing the lead Oliver in the musical, which allowed my skill set and confidence to increase. Also playing the part of Cinna in the hunger games that had been directed and choreographed by elder pupils at the time helped me build trust and teamwork. Furthermore, I have played a SA for a BBC film called 'small axe' that will be shown in 2020 Directed by Steve Mcqueen . For me to gain more interest in the performance industry I sought out the film study students who then wrote a part in a play for me about abusive relationships. As both courses work in unison, I feel that working together with other students, producers, writers and other Actors is a vital part of being successful and being able to create an effective show. I have completed NCS last summer allowing me to participate in voluntary work with the elderly in their care homes who suffer from mental health issues such as Dementia. I used my own initiative to create performances throughout the week by putting on short monologues and sing-alongs to the patient's favourite songs. This was appreciated by all, including the nurses and soon after others started to join in. This made the week even more fun. Being a member of the school acting society throughout school years has given me a taste of what acting entails and what is expected of myself. This has had a great impact on my GCSE exam performances for example 'BOUNCERS' by John Godber and devised pieces of 'DNA' by Dennis Kelly. I was pleased to be awarded high marks for both. I was temporarily involved with Central Youth Theatre which takes place every Sunday in my local area. they have workshops which run a couple of hours on a Sunday. I believe all of this will gradually strengthen my skills as an Actor from improvisation to stage presence and characterisation. They have been essential to my core performance skills. In my spare time, I Iike to play electric guitar, Bass and piano. At least an hour a day it gives me time to enjoy playing my favourite songs and creating my own music. I have been playing now for around 6 years and have represented my school's training band at the National Concert band festival in Manchester. I am a member of the 18s West Bromwich Premier Basketball Team. I have been with Albion for 5 Years after being scouted. Basketball has been a love of mine since I was 8.I've been fortunate to compete at a high level; which has given me not only confidence but has enabled me to grow as an individual but has also allowed me to work with other's well just like a family. I am now able to incorporate this teamwork attitude with those who help and support me at the university I go to. I current study performing arts at Worcester University.Acting experience:
