About me
Julie Thursham is a professional Actress based in the midlands, but works across the country. She trained at the Birmingham Theatre School in 1994 . Since then she has worked with various Theatre Companies and Independent Film Companies. She is a character actress, with a range of accents. She enjoys working in both mediums of theatre and film, as she sees the potential and the possibilities that both mediums can create and give to an audience .Her true passion is in Stage Plays and Classical Drama. However she loves the creative process working with the camera and the Film medium , and working with new writing , Film Directors, and the team of creative Film Artists.
In February 2021 Julie was working with Phoenix Works Films Ltd on their Film short 'Azrael' playing the Role of Emma. The Script writer was Victor De Almedia and the Director was Ewa Habdas .
The Film is being Premiered on Sunday 12th December 2021 at the Hen& Chickens Theatre , 109 St Pauls Rd, London N1 2NA 14.00pm - 17.00pm.
In August 2020 Julie worked with the London Film Academy on a film short 'Forking Paths' playing the role of Elaine, directed by Akhilesh Tirumala .
At the beginning of 2020 Julie was working on a one woman performance piece , 'Light - The Story of Florence Nightingale' in 2020, playing the role of Florence Nightingale, as part of J.A.C's Intimate Productions three year project on The Pioneering Tales of Women during the 19th and 20th Century - Will , Light and Hope', which focuses on the Pioneering stories of George Eliot, Florence Nightingale and Emmeline Pankhurst.
She was invited to perform 'Light - The Florence Nightingale Story' for the Wolverhampton National Trust Members Group Annual Special Event in February 2020.
Leeds Libraries also invited Julie to perform at their International Women's Day Events in early March 2020 , performing at 6 libraries in Leeds - 'Voice - The Emmeline Pankhurst Story' and 'Will - The Pioneering and Mysterious Tale of George Eliot.'
During 2019 Julie played the Role of George Eliot in the performance piece 'The Mysterious Tale of George Eliot' at , Nuneaton, Ludlow Assembly Rooms Library and Morley Arts Festival in October 2019 celebrating the 200th Anniversary of George Eliot's Birth..
In 2018 she played the Role of Emmeline Pankhurst in the performance of 'Voice - The Emmeline Pankhurst Story', at Leamington Spa Library space evening events, Market Drayton Arts Festival Market Drayton Library, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of some women being allowed to Vote.
Julie has also played Beatrix Potter in 'The Tales of Beatrix Potter' , a performed adaption of Beatrix Potter's Tales at The Story Steps space for Birmingham Library to launch the Summer National Reading Challenge 2017 , and also for Warwickshire Libraries for the Anniversary of Beatrix Potter's Birth in Spring 2016.
In 2017 Julie worked on the ''The Birthday Card' playing the role of Lucy, a short film directed by Claudia Vicente, produced by Auzair Razak..
During 2014 - 2018 she was performing two Theatre pieces focusing on two women's stories during the First World War - Edith Cavell and Lady Dororthie Fielding , which she performed separately at various places , festivals, and for specific groups across the country. It was to commemorate the Anniversary of the First World War.
In December 2014 she performed in a new play written and directed by Frank Bramwell 'One Christmas Eve' with Theatre of the Quarter playing the role of Betty from Dublin set in 1970's Birmingham
In 2013 she performed the 'Jane Austen's Tales - 'Pride and Prejudice' for the Coventry Literary Book Festival 2013 at Theatre Absolute Shop Front theatre, Leamington Spa, and Nottingham Light Night Event Literary Festival February 2013 and Derby.
During 2012 she played the role of Cathy Reed , in the Film 'Return', directed by Haqi Ali, with Stoned Pony Productions. 'Julie Thursham show reel' you tube from the film.
In June 2011 she took part in 'Barefaced Stripped Back Theatre' , an experimental theatre project that ran over 3 weekends, set up by Frank Bramwell, of In a Moment Productions, 2 hander devised theatre pieces were then finally judged by the audiences. Playing the Role of Ruth, Julie with fellow actor David Ault, they were voted by the audience , as the best performance.
In November 2010 , she took part in the Birmingham Monologue Slam at the Yard Bird, playing the Role of Josie, in an Irish theatre piece , that won the evenings performance.
Acting experience:
Julie Thursham trained at The Birmingham Theatre School in 1994, and as part of the Graduation Show , she played the Role of Prospero in Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' at the Birmingham Old Repertory Theatre .
On leaving drama school , she worked for Bitesize TIE Theatre Company touring the South West with 'Sleeping Beauty' playing the Role of Fairy Lilac.
In 1996 she performed at the MAC Arts Centre in 'The Arrival of Godot' a new play by Les Woolf , playing the Role of Blossom.
In 1998/97 she performed in 'Ice Cold in Alaska' and 'Something Fishy' 2 new comedy sitcoms by John Goss playing the roles of Helen and Vivien at the Mac Arts Centre and fringe venues.
She played the Role of Magdalena in Lorca's 'The House Of Bernarda Alba' with Fluellen ' Theatre Company at Swansea's Grand Theatre Studio .
In 2000, Julie performed in a new writing piece the 'Brain Quest' by Chris Smith a drama/ science play, touring various studio theatre venues including 'The Arena Theatre Wolverhampton, Theatre on the Steps Bridgnorth, , Crescent Studio Theatre, Birmingham.
In 2002 she performed in Ibsen's 'The Doll's House' , playing the Role of Mrs Linde , for Generator Theatre Company Warwick Dream Factory.
In 2002 she played Magdalena in 'The House of Bernarda Alba' by Federico Garcia Lorca, for Fluellen Theatre Company , at the Swansea Grand Theatre Arts Wing .
In 2004 she played the Role of Susanna Shakespeare, and the Midwife , in a new play 'The Quiney Affair' by Reg Mitchell at the RSC's The Other Place' Stratford Upon Avon.
In 2007 she performed 'Shakespeare Explosions' , at the Gas Hall Birmingham Arts Fest 2007 - an explosion of Shakespeare's Extracts scenes and characters as a one woman performance with Intimate Productions Julie Ann Cooper .
In 2008 she performed 'The GunPowder Plot Story' for Warwickshire Libraries and Museums and Schools services at Dunchurch , Also for at the Coughton Court National Trust Warwickshire. And in 2009 did a mini tour with Intimate Productions Julie Ann Cooper - ' The GunPowder Plot & the Prophecy.'
In 2009 was hired by Birmingham Museum Art Gallery to perform Stories along side the 2009 Matthew Boulton Bicentenary Exhibition, and also Tales at the Soho House.
In 2009 was hired by Birmingham Libraries to perform the stories and characters from the Horrid Henry Stories for Birmingham Centre for the child , Young Readers Festival 2009 Book Bash Event.

She also has been a Storyteller, under the name of Julie Ann Cooper since 2007, working in the regions , performing in front of various audiences, from children to adults.
eg. In June 2019 she was invited by The Derby Book Festival to perform 'Dragons Tales' at the Derby Quad Arts Centre .
Julie set up Intimate Production in 2007 ( now J.A.C's Intimate Productions since 2012) to bring Dramatic Storytelling to various Audiences and age groups. She produces and performs her own shows as well as being hired and working for various organisations and working to their Itinerary and Proposals.
Julie has also been hired by organisations and private companies as an Actor/ Role Player for Training in the Teaching of effective Communication Skills, and also for Exams and Assessments since 2005.
She works and is hired for Voice Over and Audio Recording by private companies .
