"Karen Bartke gives a particularly acutely felt and compelling performance as the mother who has lost her child and is trying to deal with how it happened and why." - The Stage
"Both Karen Bartke, as young mother Suzy/Sajida and Umar Ahmed as Farhan are deeply impressive for the affecting performances they give of a young couple who fell in love and genuinely wanted to create the best future possible for their children." - Time Out
"Rather, (Sudha Bhuchar) and (Philip) Osment allow the understated power of the piece to come through a fantastically nuanced trio of performances from Kiran Sonia Sawar as Ghazala, Umar Ahmed as Farhan and especially Karen Bartke as Suzy." - Glasgow Herald.
"The effect is simple, but absolutely gripping, drawing superb and sometimes heart-rending performances from Karen Bartke, Umar Ahmed and Kiran Sonia Sawar." Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman
"As Viola/Cesario, Karen Bartke gives an excellent performance displaying some beautiful comic timing - notably in a wonderfully expressive moment as we see the penny drop that Olivia has fallen for her/him." - View from the Stalls
"There are some fine performances on view, notably from a cool but alluring Karen Bartke in the key role of The Book." The Scotsman
"At its centre, however, is a wonderful performance by Karen Bartke as Eliza" - East Kilbride News
"There are some compelling performances here, though, particularly from John Love, Karen Bartke, and Boyle and Sheppard themselves, as the four family members; and there's no denying the power of a dramatic structure that leads us through so much pain and conflict, to a conclussion that offers a faint glimmer of hope. " Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman
