About me

I have had a series of meaty and challenging acting roles, including Hecuba in THE TROJAN WOMEN and a female Jaques in AS YOU LIKE IT. Through Historia Theatre Company, I have toured and continue to tour in a series of plays inspired by history. We have done a full length play on ZOOM. This was November 2020 and featured 9 actors in MAYFLOWER: THEY KNEW THEY WERE PILGRIMS. We had a large and international audience. Prior to that, we did DEAR CHOCOLATE SOLDIER based on the letters of Edwin Hassall, a soldier serving in the trenches from 1914 to 1918 in the Somme.
I also got involved in tours of schools both with DEAR CHOCOLATE SOLDIER and with a great new play about the Suffragettes by Sally Sheringham called THE SOUND OF BREAKING GLASS. This was done as a rehearsed reading followed by a Q and A session in schools.
Acting experience:
Training : I have a 2.1 in Modern History from St Hugh's College, Oxford. I also have both a PGCE and the RSA Dip TEFL. I did a post graduate diploma lasting a year at the LONDON AND INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF ACTING. I became a member of Equity in 1985.
Acting Experience : I have had a varied acting career (please see my CV). Film highlights include the role of the Minister of Education in LOVE ACTUALLY. Theatre highlights include the role of Hecuba in TROJAN WOMEN.
Additional skills:
I am a trained and experienced teacher - both of history (I was a secondary school teacher for a few years) and of English as a foreign Language. I have worked in the UK, Sierra Leone, France, Italy and Tbilisi, Georgia. i work a lot with International graduate students at SOAS, as well as with business people at other institutions. I am an experienced lecturer. I am a good swimmer. I am a trained Scottish dancer. I have just started Ballet classes.
I am a confident cyclist and can ride a moped up to 50cc.
I speak French fluently. I am learning German.
Industry awards:
We won a FRINGE FIRST in the Edinburgh Festival. I played the lead role - CYNTHIA KOESTLER in HOURS BY THE WINDOW - a play about the relationship between Arthur and Cynthia Koestler.
Additional information:
I am a performed playwright and I set up Historia Theatre Company (Reg: Charity removed ) which puts on plays that have their source or inspiration in history. I have written twelve full length plays , eleven of which have been performed. QUEEN ANNE was published by Stage Scripts in 2014.

I am experienced in corporate Role Play particularly Medical Role Play.
