About me
Lisa first discovered a love and talent for acting in drama lessons at school. Her ambitions were put on hold when major chronic illness took control of her life. After a long struggle, Lisa won her battle and went on to study at the University of Exeter where she developed strong skills in analysing text. Lisa’s passion for acting was re-ignited upon graduating and being cast as Sheila Birling in a community theatre production of An Inspector Calls, where she was recognised as possessing a fine young talent. Playing lead roles in a number of community productions confirmed that acting was her true calling and led to enrolling in professional actor training at Rose Bruford college.Curious about the human condition and naturally adventurous, Lisa has travelled extensively (predominantly within Asia) where she learnt about different cultures and ways of life; from remote rural villages in Northern Vietnam, nomadic tribes in the jungles of Malaysia and the Sherpa trails of the Himalayas leading to Everest Base Camp. She feels that this experience, along with her personal journey of recovery against the odds, has granted her a keener sense of empathy and ability to relate to characters, all of which she brings to her craft. She applies a quiet but relentless determination, excelling at working generously and collaboratively with a company of actors and equally giving her full dedication to individual performance. Lisa does not allow fear to stop her from taking risks and challenging herself to produce more compelling art and firmly believes in the power of drama to facilitate change in the world. Importantly, she has a good sense of humour, allowing her to laugh at herself from time to time.
As a versatile actress, Lisa enjoys playing a range of roles including comedy; particularly excelling in ditzy characters such as Pauline in One Man, Two Guv’nors and Leila Arden in Rope to leading, driven characters such as Antigone and Laura Warwick in The Unexpected Guest.
With her training at Rose Bruford coming to an end, Lisa is excited to be starting out in the industry and working with people who share her passion and creative energy. She recognises that succeeding in acting requires continuous learning and improvement, and so Lisa continues to enrol in workshops and courses with renowned drama institutes and practitioners, focusing on (amongst other things) specific techniques such as Meisner.
