About me
I’ve always been keen, since the age of twelve to pursue the life of an actor, stepping up to the audacious challenges and heartache that follow this risk centred career path. For me, there was no better feeling than the heart-pounding adrenaline that walked hand-in-hand with performing. Whether it was on stage; with the spotlights masking the observing audience, or in front of camera; where every motion of a facial feature had to specifically convey a characters unique personality; There is no better feeling.Storytelling has always held a special fascination for me. I was lucky enough to grow up in a family that endlessly watched films, so it came as no surprise that I would be attracted to such a creative industry.
I endlessly query the reasons why a character might act in a certain way, where the story arc is leading or how the conclusion is necessitated by factors previously told. Its only by knowing and studying this that we are able to fully understand the truth behind the narrative. I feel this is especially important in terms of acting, as its the only way we can fully grasp and develop a characters personality and traits.
Additional skills:
After I had finished my time at school; gaining the necessary GCSE’s and A-levels, I decided to follow a different path in a Film Production course at the Arts University Bournemouth. Although this was an alteration to another passion in filmmaking, It nonetheless never extinguished my love of acting. Through this three year course (which earned me a BA degree in Film production) I became specifically interested in editing, directing and screenwriting. All three areas of specialism deliberately centred on my obsession with storytelling, only increasing my understanding of its construction and visualisation.
Additional information:
Back in 2006, I had the lucky opportunity to work with the incredibly talented director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo on the feature film ’28 Weeks Later’. Playing one of the main characters ‘Andy’, I spent almost three months shooting the film, where I gained valuable knowledge not only on how to improve my own on-screen performance, but the general methodology of working on a live film set.
Other than working on ’28 Weeks Later’, I went on to perform both major and smaller roles in various different plays and musicals. This included main parts in John Godber’s ‘Bouncers’, Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘Between Mouthfuls’ and a Royal Shakespeare Company school production of ‘Hamlet’. I also performed as a back-up dancer and singer in musicals such as ‘Grease’ and ‘My Fair Lady’. Throughout this work, I gained invaluable experience and a strong insight into the intricacies of stage and film performance.
