About me
Michael Gerard originally trained as an actor at Mountview Academy, London. On graduation I worked primarily in musical theatre, performing leading roles in major touring productions throughout the UK and mainland Europe. Castings in many other theatrical productions followed, along with television, film and radio work.Over the years, I've had occasion to move in and out of the acting business, finding it rewarding to try my hand at more conventional ways of living. I have learnt to value the benefit this now brings to me as a performer, having gained real-life experience in business, marketing and teaching. I've produced theatrical productions and launched my own acting classes and workshops. The constant factor over these years however, has been my connection with performance and the business of acting.
During 2004, I studied the Meisner Technique under Michael Bernardin, one of the few teachers offering a course of study in the modern acting technique at the time. This gave me a fresh approach to my craft and has allowed me to continually develop my skills through a number of theatrical productions and films over recent years. In addition, this led to offering my own classes in the Meisner Technique and other advanced acting workshops in Brighton, Oxford and London.
More recently, living in Oxfordshire, I've connected with local actors and writers, offering workshops, play development readings and directing new contemporary work.
