About me
Hey folks, it's howdy doody time! I'm Steve, the cooler and shorter version of my fully given name. I've grown up in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and over time have moved around from area to area under the same potteries umbrella. I've a strong passion for all forms of home entertainment, games, fun and the amazing eighties and have always enjoyed my toys and indoor past-times rather than jumping over heaps of cut crass, with a plastic gun in a park, but don't let that fool you as I still have that adventurous spark.I've always been a creative individual and went from after school computer clubs to my first big break working as a software graphic designer, this is what I wanted to do I recall telling myself at school. Things changed though, I wanted more and put my creative skills somewhere else. I have had a varied career, building up a lot of transferrable skills and experiences. Some of the employment positions I've had have utilised my natural creative skils and I've tried to find something that I enjoy doing and can use what I've got and know to its fullest. I've always been interested in movies and movie-making, the creative and technical side of the process and got involved in acting, entertainment and performance in earlier years.
I did enjoy the different projects and meeting new people along the way but I found it difficult to explore properly, train or expand on because full-time employment was always taking centre stage and so the acting enthusiasm faded. Acting has always been like a splinter to me, the idea of acting has haunted me month by month and a feeling almost as if I was meant to be doing it in some way or form. I always told myself, if I could find a way I'd get back into it.
Acting experience:
I've tried to keep an open mind and accept the challenge of trying different things out over time as each new project is a journey and experience for the good or the bad, but either way shapes and improves you as an actor and individual. I've started out with amateur dramatics and stage productions and besides delivering lines as an actor, have also had the chance to work properties, back stage crew and stage manager.
I've worked a lot with students and independent film makers and have been involved with short videos, music videos, educational material and full features and on some occassions have been asked for input, ideas and camera operation. I've found paid employment and contracts in corporate seasonal promotion work and a few times as a physical performer in a theme park Halloween scare zone. I've even given voice-over work a go for an independent video games company.
As an added bonus and further experience, I've made use of my creative and technical skills and created my own acting showreel, audio and video monologues and video auditions for various work, gigs or contracts.
Additional skills:
Driving, Stock Car Driving, JKD (Jeet Kune Do), Video/audio editing, Adobe Photoshop, Wordpress, Swimming, Creative Design, Public Demonstrations, Creative Skills, Detailed Painting.
Additional information:
The majority of my acting, entertainment and performance experiences have been unpaid and done voluntary for the love of just being involved in the acting scene, a chance to improve my skills and adding new experiences to my CV. In an attempt to chase this reality, I joined and was a part of MIM Agency at one point in order to explore new and exciting projects.
