About me
Since playing 'Police Chief Tiger Brown' at the Library Theatre with the Manchester Youth Theatre in 1979, I've really enjoyed taking on a large variety of roles, from Queen Elizabeth II at the Leicester Square Theatre to the Victorian preacher 'Hudson Taylor' in 'Hudson Taylor' (2019);I grew up in Carlisle , Cumbria so I can speak with the native Cumbrian accent. In March 2021 I filmed a principal role of mill owner James Hogarth for Peel Interactive, for a new installation at the Beacon Museum, Whitehaven, and in May I begin rehearsals with Windmill Creative to perform musical comedy material for their show. I relish playing comic character parts as well as the serious. My highly skilled piano-playing has featured also in the roles I've played, as well as the accordion, and I have brought them together in my one man comedy shows at the Pheasantry in the King's Road.
Acting experience:
Played lead roles with Manchester Youth Theatre 1979 and 1980.
Trained at the Actors Institute 1986-87, and Guildhall School of Music & Drama Part-Time Studies (piano).
National Film School 1990-94, (acting in student films as well as being student of film composing)
Additional skills:
I am an experienced pianist, and piano-accordionist and composer and MD.
I have also worked with many corporate production companies as a composer, such as General Electric, London Business School, Demaine Associates, Jack Russell Productions, Securicor.
I am a strong swimmer. Swam as a teenager for Carlisle Secondary swimming galas.

ONE MAN COMEDY SHOW
I have a one man comedy show about classical music which gained excellent reviews on the Edinburgh Fringe ; performances at the Pizza Express Live October and December 2018.
Entertainer:
Additional skills:
As well as being a professional pianist I am also a piano-accordionist which also can sometimes be part of the act, and I specialise in Ediaf Piaf and tunes from the films.
Price range:
Price on Inquiry
Full details of act:
My show is musical comedy : comedy based around classical music and other kinds of music. A sort of classical Bill Bailey, or Victor Borge if you remember him. So gags and jokes at the piano, sketches such as Beethoven's cleaning lady helping him to write his 5th symphony; a Musician Union rep with lots of jokes about musicians. I play the piano. I do an Elton John take-off.. It's good, clean and funny. You can see the video excerpt, a performance at the Bulls Head Barnes in front of a live audience.
I do a bespoke service. So if you're having a private party you can let me know the details of the people present and I will adapt my material - write a song, do jokes - based on those facts! Here's a recent review
Ideal act length:
30 mins to an hour
Technical requirements:
I just require a piano and a CD player over the sound system. Or I can bring a piano if there is none, although there is an extra charge for this.
