Alan Luste Manning – Personal Statement
I have over 7 years in the customer service industry, working with children and adults of all ages; in retail, entertainment, office administration. I am an experienced, highly professional, fun loving team player who is adaptable, flexible, versatile, trustworthy, respectful, reliable, creative and confident and willing to face challenges. I am able to face my critics and go that extra mile to make sure I succeed.
From a very young age I have had a passion for musical theatre, ranging from the title role in The Wizard of Oz, to being one of Cinderella’s ugly sisters. As a result of this my confidence grew leading me to joinThe Oxfordshire Gang Show, performing consecutively for 10 years at ATGs New Theatre Oxford which was my first professional stage experience.
Whilst doing the Oxfordshire gang show I also performed with another theatre company called Pegasus Youth Theatre. I completed 5 years on stage and behind the scenes on many of their shows including Journeys to Freedom and Food for Thought. During my final year I was commended The Silver Arts Trinity Award as a result of directing and acting in various workshops around Oxfordshire as well as performing in a show piece called ‘The Ice Cap’.
As result of this I joined the European Theatre Arts Tour which was based in Grenoble.
After completing a weeks workshop with international Sarcoba star Bode Lawall at the same theatre, I was invited to be apart of his UK Tour show entitled “Tiwa Tiwa (It's Ours), during the off West End leg of the tour.
I like to keep myself busy and feel I can always improve my skills I was involved in The Kirsty Forbes theatre school from 2005 -2010, where I received many awards for Tap dancing, and more recently to the end of 2015, completed 5 years in Tap dancing at the Vera Legge School of Dance.
Subsequently to this whilst doing my undergraduate degree in Media Arts, I was involved quite heavily with Pineapple Dance studio and took part in a 12 week musical theatre course.
I am very active in my community and have been involved with the scouting movement since I was 6, from Beavers to Leadership. I learnt many skills over the years and I believe they have shaped me into the person I am today.. I'm not afraid to live in a tent for 2 weeks in any weather conditions, to climb the highest mountain, to coaching and playing water sport games, as well as teaching and being first aid and lifesaving trained.
