Education

About me

My experience includes creating comedy shows, as a co-host of Lost Cabaret. I have trained with some of the world’s best clown teachers (Philippe Gaulier & Dr Brown) and worked with children from a diverse range of backgrounds. I have a degree from Goldsmiths University in English and Drama. In my teen years I performed as a gypsy and dancer in comedy spoofs along side BBC writer Toby Davies (Five in Fishy Bottom, That Mitchell and Webb Look). I trained with clown guru Philippe Gaulier in Paris and assisted Cal McCrystal (director of Spymonkey) and Paul King (director of The Mighty Boosh, Paddington the movie) on fringe theatre projects.

With Paul I learnt the importance of play and accepting the ‘ball’ with confidence and pleasure. I learned how to keep on top of an ever evolving script and the importance of allowing growth and development in the rehearsal room. With Cal I studied the arts of slapstick, play, devising techniques, more play and how to release and let loose one’s inner clown. With Gaulier I learned about fixed point, pleasure, relaxing on stage, to not push or want too much, not to hesitate and to have the courage to have pleasure in being yourself. I also made life long connections with theatre artist living and creating across the globe. I also honed my improvisation skills. Often we were required to come on to the stage with nothing and find a game with the audience on the spot. This training helped develop greater sensitivity to the audience.
Additional skills:
I am a strong singer (soprano) and play the ukulele. I can drive and ride horses.
