About me
I took to acting as a vehicle on which to try to retrain and strengthen my brain which was damaged by a terminal brain tumour, the treatment and each and every one of the more severe epileptic seizures. Having beaten the tumour and the epilepsy I was delighted to discover that my brain has responded brilliantly to all the training received at the Royal Conservatoire Scotland in Glasgow and the Acting Out Drama School in Edinburgh. I discovered that I could act. I can commit my lines to memory and deliver them in a convincing and engaging way. Building on this excellent training and new found talent and passion I am particularly keen to find work in film and would fit particularly well in roles such as a Military Officer, Politician, Business Exec, Father, Vicar, Teacher, University Lecturer, Doctor, Veterinarian, Rural Estate Manager, Member of the Aristocracy, Environmentalist, Social Reformer, campaigner for social justice, Author, Explorer/Adventurer.Additional skills:
I can play the pipe organ and play the piano and sing to improving levels. My Golf is improving and I can play most racket and ball sports including Cricket, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis and Squash to a convincing level. As a former modern pentathlete I can ride and fence and as a former infantry officer I am comfortable, safe and well trained with firearms. I can also curl. I love to sail anything from Dinghies upwards and am experienced as former paid crew on Tall Ships. I am also competent in a Kayak. I am learning to dance ceroc, to ballroom dance and can scottish reel. I work well with a map and compass and love to hill walk, run and cycle. I enjoy working with animals.
Additional information:
I was brought up in a family with four brothers and four sisters before being sent away to Boarding School in the UK , before then working as paid crew on the Tall Ships the Bounty and the Solway Lass out of Sydney Australia, before then serving 20 years as an Officer in the King's Own Scottish Borderers and latterly the Royal Regiment of Scotland, before retiring to settle my children into High School education while setting up a not for profit set on breaking the cycle of reoffending in our young disadvantaged and disengaged, vulnerable young people. However the brain damage from the tumour, the treatment, and each and everyone of the more severe epileptic seizures was to such an extent that I was declared unemployable, and I miss more than anything hard work within a close knit team . With a British Accent, some say with plum in mouth, I look comfortable in Uniform and on the battlefield. As a former national level modern pentathlete I can ride and use a sword convincingly as well as rifles and pistols. With the sort of presence required of a senior infantry officer I would happily carry any role with Gravitas and depth. I would dearly love to be an inspirational character reflecting what I hope my successful battle with my brain tumour will become to others. A story that will reassure, inspire and encourage the millions struck down with terminal diseases every year across the world, and of course the millions more facing insurmountable odds in different ways. I wish to demonstrate that with hard work one really can make the impossible possible.
