Education

About me

I am an experienced Actor and I have a strong tenor voice with a large range. I have experience of singing with theatre companies, choirs, and bands. I can sing as a soloist and as part of an ensemble. I have had tuition from singing teachers including Mary Hammond from the Royal Academy of Music and Tomas Shulze from the Royal Northern College of Music. I have performed with choirs including Manchester Choral and Manchester Sing Out Gospel Choir. I have sung in a diverse variety of styles from rock and pop, to musical theatre and opera. I have a good work ethic and a strong drive to produce high quality work. I received full time training in classical dance, modern, contemporary and jazz dance at The Hammond School of Dance in Chester so there is strong physicality in my performances. I also play the drums and the ukulele.
When I am not performing solo shows I am the artistic director of Just Add Water Theatre Company. I have written, performed and directed in many productions with the company. We have created original contemporary theatre for the past 9 years using physical theatre, music, singing and puppetry, with great success. Our latest production, ‘Bobby’ was nominated for Best Theatre Production for its first outing at Buxton Fringe Festival in 2012 and an early version was then programmed at The Lowry, Salford. The show secured funding and support to be developed at Contact in November and will be touring rural venues in autumn.


Over the last ten years I have been creating theatre with numerous companies. In the last twelve months, I have acted in Small Things’ play ‘The Resonance of Seclusion’ for a regional tour. I have devised and performed as part of a two man physical production ‘What Am I Worth?’ under the direction of Montse Gili for Manchester Science Festival and been Movement Director on Contact’s ‘Fields of Grey’ alongside the organisations’ then-Artistic Director, Baba Israel. Also, Last summer I performed in a piece of physical street theatre as part of Contact’s Lost & Found festival, performing mask work as a giant fox in public places around Manchester city centre. I was also employed by Folka Theatre Company to perform fairy stories to families in public parks around the North West. I have become adept at working creatively with a collaborative ensemble, improvising, devising, and working with scripts to create a production.

I have very wide ranging teaching and performance experience which encompasses modern and traditional theatre, music, dance and drumming. Comprehensive training in classical vocals, acting, classical dance and percussion has given me the confidence of a well-rounded performer/director, whether it's improvising, devising, or rehearsing theatre. I have a strong physical and musical dynamic that influences all of my work. My experience with various companies including allowed me to explore my roles as a cast member. Being disciplined in my work and being capable of translating and applying direction to any ensemble, means I feel assured of producing the highest standard of work. I have lots of energy and enthusiasm for drama.
