I’ve always been interested in creative work since I was a kid. I found my passion for acting after watching the hugely talented David Tennant play the charismatic Doctor in Doctor Who. I then went on to study drama, film and television studies in college and university. Where I played a variety of characters and created my own short films. Falling in love with both sides of the industry. Learning not only to act but to write, direct, film and edit as well. I uploaded this work to my YouTube channel where I also make tributes to my favourite shows and films. My proudest short film is Neil Norton: Hero or Villain. Where I wanted to explore what defines a hero or a villain? A question the main protagonist is confronted by after a tragic event he was a part of. I played both the protagonist Neil and the antagonist Christopher. Exploring both sides of the story which I prepped for a month in college. Writing the plot and backstories of the characters before moving on to the script. Which I then filmed and edited for two months because of the special effects involved. The short film ended up being a whopping twenty minutes and I’m proud of the end result. I'm grateful that it won the best editing award at the Broad-Ways Film Festival 2018 as well.
I hope my work shows that I’m dedicated, hardworking, creative and a problem solver. Making sure my performance and films are up to a high standard, with an engaging story and character that the audience can connect with. Anything that doesn't work, needs adjusting or be rewritten I can figure out what is the best option to make sure everything is put back on track and benefits the film/performance. I also encourage teamwork. It’s important to work as a team, understanding the group’s point of view and exploring the ideas they bring. Working together to understand the relationships and themes involved. It is fun to present these stories and themes, it’s also important to portray them effectively. I’m constantly asking how I can make it better and understand who these characters are. You know an idea is great when you keep thinking of ways to expand it.
Outside of education, I’ve also acted in plays for the Broad-Ways Theatre and Film society. I’ve done work with Brecon Little Theatre, performing as two historical figures for A Time Traveller's Guide to Theatrical Brecon and I’ve done supporting artist work. Playing a student on every series of Sex Education and a visitor on a few episodes of Casualty. I’m hoping to find bigger, speaking parts in the industry that utilises the experience and skills I picked up from education and expands upon them. To improve as an actor and filmmaker; Bringing many more amazing stories, characters and worlds to life.
