About me
Davoud began his artistic journey by starring in various radio plays in Sweden, the native country of the acknowledged chamber playwright August Strindberg. Gradually he started also to write, direct and produce his own plays for radio and stage. The next step was getting involved in amateur- and touring theatre with epical plays mainly treating the Swedish labor movement. Among the his stage credits; Open Couple (Dario Fo), Ward No. 6 (Chekov), The Father (Strindberg), and The Tears of The Blind (Rene' de Obadiah) can be mentioned as the most prominent material Davoud has worked with. This phase was followed by studying Dramatic writing for stage and interactive media, Moving image sciences with focus on the East Asian movies, as well practical film making on 16 mm camera at the Swedish film Inst. and Stockholm's Film school.Later on Davoud started to study Lee Strasberg's Method in London, which has strongly imprinted his approach towards working with the character. The foundational training however took place at The Stockholm's Elementary Theatre School under the direction of Tomaz Neuman ("A hole in my heart" by Lukas Modysson), The Arts Educational Schools and Kensington & Chelsea College in London.
Davoud is born and grown up in Iran but had to go into exile at the age of 19, following the 1979 anti monarch revolution.
Having lived in Sweden since 1989, Davoud has been studying and working with directors such as Suzanne Osten, Reza Parsa, Carl Johan-Seth, Imor Herman, as well Torsten Föllinger and Per Chennon.
Davoud speaks English, Persian, and Swedish and is currently studying Italian. Represented by Ray Moheet at "The Levity Management" in Los Angeles, and "Francis Phillips Artist Management" in London, he has done voice over- and translation work in Oliver Stone's "Alexander the great", and played the prosecuted publisher in Ken Loach's "It's a Free World" which won the "Golden Zenith award" for the Best Screenplay by Paul Laverty at the Venice Film Festival in 2008. Later he appeared as the intruding boarder guard in Arash Riahi's "For A Moment Freedom" chosen by the Austrian Film Institute as the country's contribution within the "Best Foreign Film" category for the Academy Award competition, among many other numerous awards its has been receiving(Visit wegafilm.com).
