    About me

I am returning to acting after a career break as a successful Accent /Dialect & Voice Coach but l have also had a successful career before this as an actor and singer as I was born into a theatre family with both my parents being actors and singers and was encouraged to follow in my parents opera careers which through prof. children's choirs led to performing at The Festival Hall each Christmas and amazing places like The Royal Albert Hall, a tour of Sweden singing in Swedish and working on Benjamin Britten operas for young people and recordings which were all incredible experiences. But in my teens l was pulled far more towards acting in local youth theatres and then onto The National Youth Theatre leaving school in the middle of my A levels to work on a film starring Glenda Jackson and Oliver Reed playing a delinquent teenager. This was a great start to my professional career and allowed me to observe great talents at work. From there l worked on small fringe theatre plays like Goethe’s ‘Faust’ and community theatre with Camden Council devising and creating productions which was a great learning curve interacting with audiences. Then due to my singing background my mother persuaded me to go up for a UK number 1 tour of ‘‘Oklahoma’ that would come into the Palace Th. in London’s West End and was produced by Cameron Macintosh. Members of the cast were Alfred Molina as Judd and Maria Friedman. Maria and myself then auditioned for understudy roles and we both got lead covers. l was lucky enough to get the lead understudy Laurey and Maria -Ado Annie. From here l did a string of musicals inc The Rocky Horror Show/ Chess/ Piaf/ The Sound Of Music/ Chicago/Merrily We Roll Along which was co directed by Stephen Sondheim & George Furth at Leicester’s Haymarket Theatre - an amazing experience working with such huge icons. During the early to mid 80’s l also played the leads in several regional Cinderella’s and Aladdin’s in Panto inc playing Robin Hood at Richmond Th. alongside Susie Blake, Spike Milligan, Patrick Cargill and Peter Wyngard. During my 20’’s l also wanted to keep my acting going and worked on new writing - inc. a piece about Marcel Proust’s life called ‘House Of Obsessions’ playing alongside Adele Anderson of ‘Fascinating Aida’, also becoming part of a small theatre co. - Babel Theatre -in which we focused on exploring Shakespeares lovers from R&J to Lord and Lady M, toured it around the country in outdoor venues and small theatres and festivals - costumes/ set and two actors all fitted into a London Black cab! I was also lucky enough to work on 'Much Ado About Nothing’ at Birmingham Rep and was asked to understudy the part of Rosalind as the lead became very ill. As l continued to work through my 30’s on various musicals and acting jobs - things began to slow down work wise and l decided to retrain to supplement my income and went to the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London to do a course on voice, accents and dialects and graduated with a PGVS. Almost immediately l was being offered work in major drama schools in London and the voice/accent work began to take me away from my acting career. But now the acting bug has returned
