About me
Eleanor has been acting professionally for almost ten years, enjoying work with companies such as the BBC, The Comedy Unit, Brown Eyed Boy and Ruby Films. Much of Eleanor’s early experience came in the form of television comedy sketch shows and sitcoms, before she gained work on BBC Radio Scotland series’ and continual dramas. Comedy is however her passion and through nurture by The Comedy Unit, her ability in this field has flourished.Eleanor also strives to work in theatres such as The Traverse in Edinburgh; the Citizen’s in Glasgow and even further a field in the Everyman and Playhouse Theatre in Liverpool. It was as a result of her nine years at the Lyceum Youth Theatre, that her love of the stage was solidified and still drives her enthusiasm in this medium today. She is also very grateful for her involvement in the pilots on which she has worked for both television and radio. She relishes the opportunity to participate in something new and trailblazing and particularly enjoys the freedom that these often allow you at development level.
Eleanor is currently refining a piece of theatre for the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe based around the theme of Scottish independence. Having drawn inspiration from writers and practioners with whom she’s been lucky enough to work, such as Oscar nominated Jesse Armstrong and Stellar Quines’ Muriel Romanes, she hopes to pen much more satirical and politically engaged theatre in years to come.
Additional skills:
Eleanor studied French and Spanish for a year during her Open Degree with The Open University. She also plays the Clarsach, or Scottish harp.
