Additional Information
My recent work as an interviewer at New Writing South can be seen here, interviewing the author Sharon Zink:
About me
I am a versatile performer, originally trained at the University of Bristol (BA Hons Drama and English). I returned to acting in late 2017 after a career as a novelist and literary consultant and in 2019 completed my training at Identity School of Acting.
My recent work includes playing Carole in 'Lockdown' a web series shot during Lockdown and playing Liesel in 'Loss of Power' for a rehearsed reading (Sean Lang Theatre). I have also recently appeared as Daphne in 'How am I Looking Now?' for Spare Tyre Theatre Co. at New Diorama and Theatro Technis. (Review/picture here: camdennewjournal.com/article/never-mind-the-botox) and as Julia Dart in Peregrine's Progress at Arcola Theatre and Cambridge Junction Theatre.
In addition, I have played in Martin Crimp's 'Attempts on her Life' at the Cockpit theatre and at the Royal College of Art MA show as Apollo in 'The Furies' (Greek Drama/performance art).
Recently I have also appeared in four short films including as Mrs Henridge in 'I Am' for Blindshot Productions (Exec. Producer Barbara Broccoli); Martha in 'Stitch' for Central St Martins MA Animation and as Gillian in Turner Prizewinner Gillian Wearing's film 'Wearing Gillian' which was shown at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
I began as an actor with extensive youth theatre work including summer residencies with Rational Theatre Company and playing Kate in 'Taming of the Shrew'. This led to being cast as Sheila in J.B. Priestley's 'An Inspector Calls' for a professional production that toured southern India.
I then worked for four years as a radio presenter and producer as well as working with many corporate clients as a media trainer for Electric Airwaves. Subsequently I studied for an MA in Creative Writing at UEA. I am a published novelist (Penguin and Bloomsbury) and a qualified secondary school Drama and English teacher. I have performed in a TIE tour 'Guilty' in London secondary schools. I have experience of drama facilitation, of devising work and compiling education packs for schools work. I have worked as an actor for a Channel Four pilot (the return of 'After Dark').
I am a very experienced writer - I run a mentoring organisation for writers (www.thewritingcoach.co.uk) - and am also available for script development work. I am also an excellent sight reader.
