About me
I am an experienced actor, singer, song-writer, model and more recently playwright. I have already gained some wonderful experiences both on stage and in front of camera. In theatre most notably appearing as the character X and as 'The Therapist' in Softsod Productions performances of the highly acclaimed Fragile Man and UnSpoken at both the Bath and Edinburgh Festival Fringes (2017 ad 2018 respectively), in a highly regarded production of the musical The Wedding Singer at Leicester's premier 'Curve' Theatre, playing Reverend Hale in a hugely successful adaptation of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, being cast in the lead role of Joe Keller in an award-winning production of All My Sons and appearing at Bristol's 'in the round' Tobacco Factory Theatre in Molier's Tartuffe. I am therefore used to performing in professional productions, with highly respected casts, crews and directors to packed audiences. My film work includes roles in the independent films Father to Fall, Capricious and Agroculture and several 'extra' roles including The Coronor and a walk-on role in the BBC's Poldark series 2.
My writing is increasingly coming to the fore, as the author and producer of the newly written Fragile Man and UnSpoken, both plays appearing in consecutive years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 and 2018 and now touring SW England and Wales with my latest drama The Ebbing Hour (writer, producer and actor).
Before taking up acting I worked professionally in a range of roles, from social worker and NHS manager to projects director, giving me the ability to play roles from these professional sectors comfortably and naturally. I was married for over 20 years (now divorced), have 2 grown-up children and have travelled extensively. These varied work and life experiences have deepened my confidence and self-awareness and now enable me to bring sensitive, characterful and truthful performances across a range of media.
I am friendly and approachable with a 'natural' presence, both on stage and screen. In addition I am always professional, hard-working, dedicated to learning lines and a great believer in strong team work. I work well with the crew, director and production team as well as the cast and client (if relevant) and take direction very well.
I live in S. Wales a short drive from Bristol and Cardiff although I am willing and able to travel around the country for work.
Additional skills:
I seem to be blessed with some good genes which I thank my mother for!! This gives me the chance to play roles that are younger (40's) as well as older roles as required. I look for a range of roles across all media as I believe this keeps me interested and fresh and therefore more natural in my performances. I can play both serious and comedy roles, enjoy 'larger-then-life' pantomime performances as much as 'nuanced' film roles and believe my combination of acting, singing, dancing and presenting skills alongside my maturity and life skills gives me a unique place in the market. I pride myself on turning up on time, always having the right attitude, working hard, listening and responding well to direction and forming a strong back-stage set and on-stage/set 'team', so vital for success.
Additional information:
I played in bands for many years, initially as a drummer before taking up guitar, bass and singing more extensively. I am now an accomplished musical performer and singer- songwriter. Over the last 10 years I have added a range of additional musical skills to my repertoire enabling me to write and self-produce over 15 songs, performing lead vocals and playing all the instruments.
This led to me recording a title song for an independent film and writing a musical score in 2015 for an adaptation of Canterbury Tales and a completely original score for Fragile Man (2017), UnSpoken (2018) and The Ebbing Hour (2019) to great acclaim.
In my extensive 'professional' life experiences, I have routinely presented to large audiences in health, social care and capital regeneration fields, meaning I can bring real life presenting experience into my presenter roles and performances.
