2015That is not possible for her mother, and Laura Hills-Leigh portrayed her with sensitivity, demonstrating by turns, tenderness, anger and despair at her inability to reach her daughter.
Stephen Walker
2015Helen (Laura Hills-Leigh), the twitchily frantic mother to mentally disturbed Rosie (Alice Smithson), is left reeling from emotion after the disappearance of her daughter... What really leaps out is Hills-Leigh’s portrayal of the demon in Rosie’s mind, the embodiment of her mental difficulty which squeals and trembles like a psychotic animal. This overzealous creature is genuinely terrifying: the inner twin of a toiled mind wails and shrieks over Rosie’s troubled words, giving successful insight to the terrors of insanity.
Millie Morris
2015Balancing this out is Hills-Leigh’s older sister character Lucy. She is calm and controlled yet Hills-Leigh lets the audience see the cracks that she has been hiding in her day-to-day life. It would be very easy to have both roles as dramatic chaotic women but she brings a much more interesting level by hiding all that chaos under a cloak of maturity.
Lindsay Avery
2015'Hills-Leigh, playing older sister Lucy and Dee have an intense heartfelt chemistry. Struggling between being a protective mother figure and resenting younger sibling Ann, Hills-Leigh delivers a subdued yet profound performance and seems to instinctively understand the complexity of her character. Her maturity to portray emotion merely through the expression of her eyes is earnest and impassioned. '
