    About me

I was born in London, where I have spent most of my life. Born to an artistic family, I have come to know theatre & music from an early age. Via my mother, I hwas raised on English theatre, television, old music hall, poems, cabaret, community, and variety. And on my Dad’s side from America, we have a history of jazz, modelling, experimental film, and Parisian education. The internationalism, forms, and varying lives of my family greatly inform my creative projects.

As a boy, I appeared in the film Before the Rains, aged 9, filmed in India with Linus Roache and Jennifer Ehle, which was my first taste of screen acting. At school, I learnt to play violin, piano, and most of all: to sing. At school, I performed in 14 professional operatic productions, in the boys’ choruses at Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Opera, the Royal Festival Hall, the Concergebouw, Teatro Petruzelli, & Teatro Reggio Emilia to name a few. I was later a choral scholar at Croydon Minster, before attaining my place at Cambridge to study French & Spanish, specialising in European Theatre & Film. I continued my music for two years, touring the Far East, Europe, and America with the Choir of Clare College Cambridge.

At Cambridge, I performed in a variety of straight plays, musicals, poetry cabarets, Marlowe Society Shakespeares, recitals, but after my first year, my father encouraged me to ‘write my own ticket’. Alongside my French, I penned an adaptation of Les Mains Sales, a ‘Brexistential Farce’ with the Pembroke Players at Cambridge - rehearsing in the old cellars of Monty Python, etc. This affirmed my love of using my language skills for translation-adaptation, and an appreciation of new writing. I then studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique, in Paris, as one of five foreign students on the 2nd year of their BA programme. I performed in a 3 hour showcase in Bagnolet, of interweaved scenes of Shakespeare and John Cassavetes called Under the Influence, performing in French and English. In Paris, I led a writing and improvisatory workshop, which became a twenty-five draft in French for Conversations with Myself: a masked play about queer identity. On my return to Cambridge the following year, I penned a version in American English, which was performed at the Corpus Playrooms, and then finally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a professional cast to favourable reviews. At RADA, I studied on a four-term collaborative masters in Laboratory theatre, where I collaborated with seventeen other artists in a workshop format. Together we studied Method acting, voice, corporeal mime, Commedia dell’Arte, clowning, Grotowski, physical theatre & a variety of avant-garde theatrical practitioners and forms. I co-founded a breakaway experimental fringe theatre troupe: Bare Theatre, with whom I have plans to tour in 2021.

Alongside my studies, for my parents’ company Sync or Swim, I have recorded ADR and voice-work on 80 films/TV in the professional world, recently on Brave New World, Killing Eve, The Professional. And in recent years, I have begun to direct on these projects.Since graduating, I have reconnected with my studies in European and experimental film, recently performing on a some devised creations for new screen formats and for a music video - a useful pursuit during the pandemic. My various skills in writing, directing, and acting make me a versatile team member on projects with low means and high inspiration.

Aside from creative projects, I'm a lover of music, football, gardening, cycling, & good food + drink!
