About me
I came into acting later in life. I always had an interest in performing but the opportunity didn't arise until I retired from teaching. I worked as an extra for a couple of years and, through this, learned a lot about working on set and the differing roles of cast and crew. I have attended scene study and screen acting classes at 53:2 with Simon Naylor and Karen Henthorne. More recently I have been attending Inspire Actors with Michael Keogh. Each tutor has a different approach and these differences have made my knowledge richer and my confidence stronger.I have also been very fortunate in gaining experience of performing in the theatre through the wonderful ADP run by Diana Atkins and Hannah Ellis. I have performed several script in hand plays as well as performing at 53:2 in Offcut (a series of short plays). I have also completed a two week Shakespeare Intensive Course with Simon Trinder and Adjoah Andoh. I had little experience of Shakespeare but the course focussed on breaking down and understanding the technicalities and interpretation of his writing. This also provided the opportunity to work with the renowned voice coach Jeanette Nelson. It was a fabulous experience and one I will always treasure!
Additional information:
During my career as a teacher I have worked with primary, secondary and college students from the ages of 10 to 80 something. I was lucky enough to have a career I loved. I taught PE, was the class teacher and then a tutor at a college. I love working with people and making a difference however small. I also love working as part of a team. As an actor I aim to be truthful in my performances and through this to move or change the emotions/thoughts of the audience. It sounds a bit wordy I know but it is how I feel.
