About me
Maryam Davari is a performer and actor who studied and started her work in Iran in1998. She has performed on the main stages of Tehran as well as in festivals around the world. Maryam has studied under Hamid Samandarian, Farid Paya, Song of The Goat Theatre and has been trained in Japanese Butoh dance, and film and TV production operations.Since 2006 when she moved to London, she has had roles in several films such as the BAFTA nominee 2013, Only Sound Remains, and a feature film called Undocument, for which she has been a runner up for best female actor at Bucharest International Film Festival 2017. Maryam is a member of Seemia Theatre and has taken part in creating three shows with the company, one of which has Edinburgh 2018 Lustrum Award toured nationally and internationally and has won the Summerhall Lustrum Award at Edinburgh Fringe 2018 . Maryam has also made artistic videos and short documentaries on arts and music.
During her time in the UK her passion for theatre, and understanding different schools and styles of theatre, has lead her to do academic researches and interviews with experts of the field as well as taking her to practical workshops such as Odin Week with Odin theatre and Ecole Nomade with Ariane Mnouchkine and Theatre du Soleil.
Maryam has experienced acting in different styles of theatre and is always looking for the most truthful way to tell a story with the tools that are not unique but are shared by all humans: body, voice and imagination.
