About me
Hi, I am an able-bodied amputee actor and more than able to fit a variety of roles. I have a background in immersive theatre, stage performance, reality tv, interactive performance and supporting artist work.Most recently, I have been cast in the role of David Copperfield in an amateur production of the same name, and I performed in a lead role in a community pantomime as Captain Bluebeard, bringing a unique, comedic and vulnerable warmth to a villainous hound of a character.
I have been taking private tuition for the last 2 years to deepen my understanding and craft.
I am a survivor with a story to tell and express through the instrument of my body and myself. I lost my leg in 2008 after a long run of clinical negligence and 6 traumatic major operations, and in the summer of 2021 was in intensive care with delta-covid for over an month and nearly died twice. I have had a number of unique, unlucky and dangerous events in my life other than these, which I have resolved through grounding, healing and therapy and all of my experiences with coming close to death, immense trauma , violence and abuse I have suffered has only deepened my desire to act, to channel my life experience and emotions and to celebrate my passion, as the experiences have taught me that life is too short, and even if if you only have one year left or a hundred, you should do what you love and makes you happy, and I love to act and train constantly. Acting inspires me and I want to be part of that inspiration.
I have worked with Merseyside Academy of Drama, Rainhill Musical Theatre Company, Bearded Kitten, Studio Lambert productions and also with the BBC and can supply references on request.
I am fully flexible, relish new opportunities and challenges and am very easy to work with.
Additional skills:
Extensive background as a healthcare professional, I write, sing, perform spoken word, I am a qualified personal trainer and sports masseur, I am also training as a Shiatsu practitioner and paint with chocolate to make work for idle hands. @artauchocolate
