About me
Melanie is a Sheffield born and based professional actress, playwright and theatre maker.
She graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from the Performance for Stage and Screen Course from SHU in 2019.
Described as a “one woman army”, Melanie has single-handedly set up her own event; “Sheffield Monologue Showcase (SMS)” that premiered last March, with feedback from audiences noting of it’s success. Her most recent acting work was a voiceover for an international art installation for the Venice Biennale, as well as working consistently for Sheffield City Council as their role play actor.
Melanie is also a keen playwright, her most note-worthy piece “The Sylvia Swing” was performed at the York Theatre Royal’s Take Over Festival. In her early creative career, Melanie has had her comedy monologue: “A Relationship is Like a Toilet” premiered on BBC Upload Festival and also appeared on BBC’s Tomorrow’s World. She also occasionally performs as her lip-syncing cabaret-style alter ego for which she came in 3rd place at the Great Yorkshire Show Off Contest.
Melanie would like to venture in gritty BBC dramas as well as build up her comedy character repertoire in TV and Theatre. She is interested to create more new writing to tour and continue to set up “SMS” showcase events for local actors.
