    Additional Skills

The wide range of my IB studies has helped me develop a variety of skills: academic and social. Speaking French greatly helped my improvisation, as I was required to consider delivery and intonation as well as content. Physics trained me to think critically and analytically - skills also needed in my History studies, where I had to place people and events in context and consider situations from different viewpoints. Theory of Knowledge, a subject unique to the IB, developed my questioning mindset, using the Ways of Knowing and Areas of Knowledge as starting points. Additionally, I still use my English experience regularly, as I write poetry in my spare time as a form of reflection. I find the structure restrictive enough that I have to process fully what I’m feeling/thinking, and yet liberating enough that once I’ve written it down, be it a full poem or just a rhyming couplet, I feel lightened. Besides poetry, I love to embroider, read and run.

    Additional Information

I joined The Theatre Royal Bath Theatre School, a community of young actors and crew collaborating under professional direction to create spectacular pieces of theatre from such ancient tragedies as ‘Antigone’ (in which I was cast as Eurydice and Tiresias) to the more modern ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ (in which I played a female Watson). With people I’ve met through TRBTS, I’ve performed in two independent productions that were written, directed and performed by people 19 and younger, the second of which (‘Ovid’s Heroines’, in which I performed a 25 minute monologue as Medea) was part of the Bath Fringe Festival. This has given me both a taste of the commitment necessary for professional theatre and an insight into the integrated operations of a successful company.

This sense of ensemble has been further instilled into me through the LAMDA Foundation Diploma. Through the many different disciplines taught (movement, stage combat, singing, voice, and acting to name but a few) I’ve learned the importance of letting go of any inhibitions I may have as an individual and refocusing that energy on the actors around me, reinforcing the need for connection to create a meaningful performance. I’ve also discovered the importance of dedication to regular exercises, such as Alexander Technique, yoga and line preparation, as the accumulative results are astounding. I’ve performed in scenes from ‘Lungs’, ‘The Grouch’, ‘Hedda Gabler’ and ‘Measure for Measure’ at LAMDA, and with each project I found myself striving closer to authenticity with the addition of new perspectives from different directors, as well as my fellow actors. Now that the course is over, myself and a few other members from the course are assembling a theatre company and writing material to perform.

    About me

Having performed since age 4, acting is an integral part of my life. Until I was 14, I attended Stagecoach Theatre School, with weekly lessons in singing, dancing, and acting. This ignited my love for theatre, a love further fired by many theatre trips over the years. I’m fascinated by the connection theatre creates, both between the actors themselves and between actor and audience. I've recently graduated from the Foundation Diploma Course at LAMDA, and am keen to build upon the skills I've developed on a professional level. I am particularly interested in theatre.
