About me
Having studied Theatre at college, Paul later took acting classes at Sunshine Studios, Manchester, and Salford Arts Theatre, with Victoria May, previously of The Royal Court. He further enrolled for a term at The Actors Lab at Media City, Salford in 2017. A versatile baritone singer and character actor, roles include Zuniga in 'Carmen' (Bolton Little Theatre), The Marquis in La Traviata (Bolton Albert Halls) originating the part of Herbert White in a new opera of The Monkey’s Paw (St John the Baptist Church, Stockport) and also originating the part of Ben in immersive musical 'Indigestion', by Derek Martin and award winning composer Michael Betteridge (The Lowry, Salford and Riverside Studios, London-Tete a Tete Opera Festival). Other credits include The Bishop of Truro in 'Stargazy Pie and Sauerkraut' by James Stock (Salford Arts Theatre) Greek Chorus in The Oresteia (HOME) and 'Lad' in 'Mad For It' (Royal Exchange Theatre Company). He has further performed at the Manchester Not Part Of Festival and both the Buxton Fringe Comedy Festival and the Buxton Opera Festival.Additional skills:
Paul wrote and directed a short one act play, 'Impossible!' which was performed at Liverpool Academy and won the Liverpool University Drama Award for best self written piece in 2001. He has won a further Liverpool University Drama Award, and has also been nominated for both a Manchester University Drama Society Award and a Manchester Musical Award. He directed two further full scale musical productions ‘The Yeomen of the Guard’ and ‘Lucky Stiff’ with theatre groups in Manchester in 2011 and 2012, both performed at professional venue The Royal Northern College of Music and the latter of which was nominated for 3 Manchester Musical Awards. He has had singing lessons with James Hendry (now a leading young international conductor) , and has shown versatility by being able to sing baritone roles in several productions as well as straight character acting. Most recently he performed in a video art installation in 2022 celebrating Greater Manchester Libraries, and is currently directing one of a series of short plays for the fourth ‘Fight Like A Girl’ season at The King’s Arms, Salford.
