REVIEW FOR ‘FACIAL’ (Short Film)
“It’s a situation ripe with personal investment due in large part to Browne, who gives a heartening performance with Scott (Browne) coming off as the antagonist, and right or wrong, a good bit of viewers will still see his side as reasonable… ‘Facial’ struck a nerve, something that doesn’t always happen. And for that (director) Blackman and Browne should be commended. They’ve navigated very murky waters with this effort, and in the process offered each viewer an opportunity to question their own personal perceptions of love, lust, sex and trust. (9/10)”
- The Conduit Speaks
REVIEW FOR 'THE THOMPSONS' (Feature Film):
"Sean Browne, who we recently saw on stage in The Great Gatsby Musical, pops up in the supporting role of Cole Stuart - the ruggedly handsome brother of Riley. After seeing him play such a charmer on stage it's fun to see him play the complete opposite in this movie. He makes quite the impression and we'd like to see him take on even meatier roles in the future."
- Entertainment Focus
REVIEWS FOR 'THE GREAT GATSBY' (Kings Head Theatre) :
"Sean Browne understands Gatsby, and renders his uncertainty to perfection."
- The Telegraph
"The multi-talented cast, led by Sean Browne as Jay Gatsby and Matilda Sturridge as Daisy Buchanan, drape Fitzgerald's characters in credibility and finesse. The chemistry shared between Browne and Sturridge as the misconstrued lovers is incredulous as the audience cannot resist but to succumb to their passion. Browne, a seasoned performer, is utterly mesmerizing as the great Jay Gatsby who he embodies by way of a steady endearment of character."
- Plays To See
"Sean Browne's Gatsby is suitably enigmatic, a blend of courtesy and dishonesty."
- Evening Standard
"The show's strengths are undoubtedly within its casting. As Gatsby, Sean Browne evokes the coolness and sham-mystique of the protagonist skilfully. Browne nailed the nervous under-statement that evolves into defiance superbly."
- The Public Reviews
"Sean Browne in the role of the mysterious party host Jay Gatsby is the most devastatingly handsome actor to grace the Off-West End stage. Browne is also one of the best cast actors, completely capturing Gatsby's mysterious, charming air from the start"
- Hub Pages
"Exchanges with the enigmatic, mesmeric Jay Gatsby (Sean Browne) form some of the finest dramatic moments in the production."
- Extra Extra
"The devilishly handsome Sean Browne and the beautiful pale-as-alabaster Matilda Sturridge combining perfectly and sending sparks flying across the stage as the thwarted lovers Gatsby and Daisy.
Sean Browne's Gatsby is deliciously cool. He underplays it marvellously, proving Gatsby's strength through restraint."
- Entertainment Focus
"The cast, led by the terrific Sean Browne as Gatsby, is the main strength of the piece.
…Browne's charismatic and charming Gatsby."
- Remote Goat
"Jay Gatsby was played with the right mix of tragedy and charm by Sean Browne."
- The Upcoming
"…which leaves Jay Gatsby himself, given an enigmatic build up before we first see him. What does Sean Browne make of him? His Gatsby is firm-chinned, good-looking, urbane and restrained but with something behind the eyes that makes him enigmatic, makes you think twice about his claims and the rumours that circulate about him."
- British Theatre Guide
"It takes a while to get used to Sean Browne's laconic Gatsby, but he's a charismatic presence."
- Timeout
"Sean Browne's Jay Gatsby, enigmatic and discreetly conflicted, cuts a handsome figure."
- The Times
REVIEWS FOR 'THE THREE LIONS' (Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh Festival) :
“What elevates it into the premier league is its classy cast whose knockabout is as perfectly timed as a Beckham free kick… It is Sean Browne’s squeaky, relentlessly literal Beckham who steals the best lines, though, and with a shy smile emerges as man of the match.”
- The Independent
“David Beckham wears the expected strip of a charming, fashion obsessed geezer...and he gets the lions share of the laughs. Director Philip Wilson has bagged a premier-league cast – Sean Browne’s Becks (is) a smartly impersonated hoot throughout.”
- The Telegraph
“The impersonations are peerlessly good, but the characterisation stays just the right side of caricature...Sean Browne’s Beckham is high-pitched, earnest, a literal-minded amiable chap..."
- The Times
“Philip Wilson’s production is blessed with a terrific central performance by Sean Browne, who captures Beckham’s voice, as well as his kindly eyes, exceedingly well and has fun with this characters habit of taking every statement punishingly literally.”
- Evening Standard
“A production by Philip Wilson that scores one fabulous satirical bullesye in Sean Browne’s bearded, beaming mannequin of a Beckham... Browne has a clever knack of making Beckham at once charming and amazingly thick.”
“Browne captures Beckham strange mix of limited intellectual prowess and boundless likeability.”
- Time Out
“The impressions of each man were skilfully executed and the talents of the cast shone throughout.”
- The Fringe Review
“Sean Browne, meanwhile, bears an almost frightening resemblance to Beckham.”
- Fest Mag
“Sean Browne's Becks is a sharply dressed vision of perfect poise and sleekly applied hair products. His use of physical language is excellent, too. The body language all round, particularly from Browne adds another layer to the play.
It's a great script, but delivered with a solid understanding of timing and material.”
- The Stage
“An extremely strong cast has been assembled…Sean Browne is so like David Beckham it is uncanny. He plays him as we might imagine, slow on the uptake but unexpectedly displaying flashes of insight.”
- One4Review
“This play is that rare delight: a near perfect production. The acting is faultless and compelling. A must-see”
- ‘Top 5 Shows to See at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival’ (No.1)
REVIEWS FOR NEIL LABUTES 'THIS IS HOW IT GOES' (English Theatre of Hamburg) :
"Sean Browne is not only brilliant, he is unnerving."
- The Express
"Browne is charming, audience bequiling, excellent. He gently forces the viewer to trust and sympathise with him, using friendly, youthful charm. This way his double-act/cross is truly shocking since the audience has been taken in by his narration willingly."
- The Abendblatt
"Browne is marvellous as he casts a look into the chasms of the human soul."
- The Post
REVIEWS FOR NEIL LABUTES ‘THE SHAPE OF THINGS’ (Arcola Theatre) :
“Sean Browne, seen previously as the debonair and charming Gatsby, plays another sexy and edgy American, though this one has a playful boyishness and more of a temper, as well as plenty of stage presence.”
- Entertainment Focus
“Sean Browne strikes just the right notes as the jovial, muscle-bound, dangerous and not very bright jock reluctantly heading for the alter.”
- Reviews Gate
“Sean Browne as Philip is brawny with a subtle taste for power games - his scene with Adam is as disturbing as it is thrilling.”
- The Other Bridge Project
“Sean Browne and Harrie Hayes provide strong performances as troubled couple Philip & Jenny. Browne has a rich bass that suits the dominance of his brooding nature.”
- British Theatre Guide
“Browne and Hayes offer perfectly pitched performances, letting slip just enough doubt and insecurity to convey that Philip and Jenny’s superficially romantic idyll is built on sand.”
- Remote Goat
“An excellent cast. Harrie Hayes and Sean Browne in the supporting roles of Jenny and Philip, also mix tenderness with gaucheness. With apposite brashness, when alpha male Philip’s masculinity seems under threat he reappears in his next scene juggling an American football.”
- One Stop Arts
