Highlights

I am an actress, scriptwriter and theatre-maker. I have worked in short films, devised theatrical projects, and have written two original scripts. As an artist, I am drawn to projects related to feminism, queer, and environmental issues, as I desire to challenge misinformation the stereotypes and myths surrounding the above issues through my art. Therefore, it is my artistic mission to educate, highlight and enlighten the wider audience about the rights of the LGTBQ+ community and the principles of feminism, while also motivating them to adapt to an environmentally friendly way of living. Since I was 5 years old, I have been captivated by the world of theatre and wanted to pursue an acting career. I grew up in a small town in Greece, where there was no theatre but only touring productions during the summer. Due to this, as I got older, I often visited Athens to attend theatrical productions, mostly Greek tragedies or comedies as I have always been intrigued by the complexity of the characters and the moral dilemmas they face. I was particularly inspired by the “Iphigenia in Tauris” in Epidaurus, which gave me the feeling of watching an authentic Ancient Greek tragedy, as it was performed in the Ancient Greek language. I also took part in amateur acting clubs and I performed mostly modern Greek comedies or children’s theatre. Even though I have declared my interest in following an acting career from a young age, my parents were opposed to my choice. Thus, I decided to come to London- the heart of theatre in Europe- and to follow my dream. At university, I studied different theatrical methods and techniques and I decided to use the Stanislavsky method to dive into the character’s psychology and perform their intentions clearly on stage. To be more specific, I often use my emotional memory to unlock similar situations I have faced with my character in order to perform their feelings, intentions, and actions as truly as possible. As Stanislavsky has claimed a good actor is not the one who can portray emotions on stage, but the one who can control them. As a student in the University of Roehampton I worked in a divided project for the Horniman Museum, which celebrated the opening of their new exhibition, “Colour: The Rainbow Revealed.” In the course of 15 days, my fellow 16-course mates and I came up with short scenes interspersed with music and dancing that had Neon as a theme. I also collaborated with the theatre company People Show in a devised short film, suggesting ideas, which were adapted to the final film. Devising projects has given me the freedom as an artist to take on different roles at once and have a major part in the final artistic presentation of the project. I am currently working on my final short film with the name “The Final Crisis” for my MA at the University of East London, which I have written the original script for, I will also be performing and producing it. “The Final Crisis” is an absurdist short film, which addresses the urgency to deal with the environmental crisis. To be more specific, my project addresses the issues of environmental pollution, climate change, unethical working conditions on the fast fashion industry, and each individual’s responsibility for acting on those. My research involves exploring techniques inspired by the Theatre of the Absurd and finding easy changes in daily life that lead to a more eco-friendly life.
