    About me

I have considered myself an actor since infant school. Of course, I was an actor-in-waiting at that time, but I had a sense of destiny.

Shortly after leaving grammar school I obtained employment as a Student Acting ASM in repertory at Manchester Library Theatre. I then worked as an actor at several repertory theatres, thereby bypassing the traditional routes through drama school or university.

Three years after entering the profession, I appeared in the West End with Alastair Sim and Patricia Routledge, playing Hatcham the groom in John Clements’ Chichester Festival Production of Arthur Wing Pinero’s “Dandy Dick”.

Seven years on I returned to the West End to appear in the lead role of Brian Runnicles (previously played by Michael Crawford, David Jason and Andrew Sachs) in “No, Sex Please, We’re British”, still the longest running comedy.

Whilst playing this role, I filmed the key part of Nigel Mostyn in the BBC serialisation of John le Carre’s “Smiley’s People”, playing opposite Alec Guinness. Subsequent television work included four episodes of Granada television’s serialisation of Paul Scott’s Raj Quartet, “The Jewel in the Crown”, an “Only Fools and Horses” Xmas Special and three episodes of the BBC serialisation of CP Snow’s ten novel Lewis Eliot saga, “ Strangers and Brothers”, in which I played one of the leading roles.

I then chanced on a secondary career in copywriting, initially writing radio commercials for “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. Increasingly this secondary career became my principle career. My marriage the broke down and I decided to readdress my life, taking employment in which I might be of more service to others I worked for over a decade in social services.

I recently returned to my original profession and am rebuilding my career.
