About me
A versatile actress with experience in both straight drama and comedy. Four BAFTA Awards winner director Steve Connelly (Horrible Histories, Yonderland) has kindly gave me this reference: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Vanessa a couple of times. She’s a tremendously versatile and talented actor who embodies that special quality every director craves, ‘watchability’”.My comedy work has been recognised by the Co-Filmic and Funny Women awards. My comedy trio, The History Girls, were discovered by Ben Farrell (BBC comedy executive) and Objective productions, who commissioned us to film for BBC Comedy. I also work as a dramaturg and script reader for Hampstead theatre.
My background is in theatre, and I was nominated best actress at the National Welsh Theatre Awards 2016 for the role of Buckingham in the all-female Richard III at Wales Millennium Centre. I have performed with The National Theatre (War Horse), The Royal Exchange and for the playwright Howard Barker with The Wrestling School, the ENO, maverick director Chris Goode, Gideon Reeling/Punchdrunk, and Kneehigh.
Film work includes the film ‘Rosbeef’ (35mm) which starred David Ginola, and which won the Canal Plus ‘Coup de Coeur’ Award. I helped to set up the film, and I am very interested in helping film makers.
