About me
I am a freelance pianist, musical director and trombonist based in Reading. In 2016, I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with an MMus in Performance with distinction, specialising in Piano Accompaniment and Conducting. I also hold a first class BMus (Hons) degree from the University of Huddersfield, where I studied piano, conducting and trombone. I play piano to LTCL level, and I have worked regularly as an accompanist and repetiteur in a wide range of genres. In addition, I was awarded the Rodwell Prize for Piano upon graduating from the University of Huddersfield.I play trombone to diploma standard, attaining a DipABRSM in summer 2016. I studied trombone during my time at Huddersfield University as a second instrument, and held the principal position in both the university brass band and wind orchestra. I was also lead trombone for the university big band during each of my 3 years of study. In addition, my trombone playing has led me to be part of some of the best brass bands in the country. Most significantly, the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band, where I held the second trombone position for 2 years.
My main passion however is for Musical Theatre. I conducted my first musical, Gypsy, at the age of 18, and performed regularly as a pit musician for many amateur productions before and during my university studies. During my postgraduate year at RNCM, I also played piano for musical theatre classes. Since completing my masters, notable Musical Theatre credits include rehearsal pianist for the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, Assistant MD for Sweeney Todd, Assistant MD for The Dickens Girls (British Youth Music Theatre) and two seasons as Assistant MD at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular (17/18).
