About me

I graduated from Wimbledon College of Art with a BA Honours Degree in Costume Design for Stage and Screen. Since i graduated i have worked in various roles including Cosume Designer, Costume Buyer, Costume Assistant, Costume Daily and Standby. I am a bright and bubby person who enjoys working as part of a team or induvidually.

Costume Design is an integral part of telling a story and for me its one of the most important, from a characters costume we can determine who that character really is, what their background is, their own individual stories as characters, this is why i love costume design i find people intriguing and i am always interested to know more about them i feel costume does the same job, makes us wonder and want to explore this character more.

I have a particular obbsession with period costume, It amazes me the regimes that some periods of clothing endured, I get completely spellbound by some of the detail in some periods for instance the elizabethan era where wealthy men and women's clothes were embellished with jewels and pearls, even the mens battle armour was adorned with fantastically detailed patterns. I imagine what it must have been like for those men and women and how they went about their daily lives and how different society was.

I am also enthralled by learning about different cultures, during my time in wimbledon with our set projects i chose to fit the scripts to a lot of different cultures. I really love researching other cultures rich histories and traditions. I like to find out differences and similarities between British and other cultures, for example in Britain if we were in mourning we would traditionally wear black the tradition set by Queen Victoria, where as in India if you were in mourning you would wear White as this means the absence of colour and the absence of that person in your life, It is learning about details like this is find truly captivating. My other love is for films that are completely different from anything else for instance 'Bunny and the Bull' and 'I'm a cyborg but thats OK' I really admire how different these films are and i think they are so interesting, I think designing for a films like these would be so exciting and enjoyable.
