About me

Mingyu Lin read English at the University of York, trained as a director at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and is an alumni of the Royal Court Writers' Program and the Young Vic BEA Writers' Group. She is currently based in London and has directed and written a number of short films which have won finalist awards for Sundance Shorts, Enter the Pitch and ITN's Nativity Factor. Her short 'Dream of Emerald Hill', supported by Singapore's SG50 Celebration Fund, has been screened at Cairo's Qabila Film Festival, Sirius Film Festival. Her most recent film 'Sandwich' won Best Film at Filming East Festival at the BFI and her comedy pilot 'Back in the Day' by Kerry Gooderson was a finalist at the 2019 Pilot Festival.

Stage directing credits include: Overheard (CAN, Nottingham Lakeside Arts/York Theatre Royal/Wun's), No Bond So Strong (Sampad, MAC Birmingham), Does My Bomb Look Big in This (Tamasha, Soho Theatre), Silently Hoping (Ellandar, Applecart/Vaults Fest 2019), Grotto (Next Up Talent, National Theatre Studios), Hear Me Now (Tamasha, Rich Mix), Rice Paper Tales (Trikhon, The Albany/ mac Birmingham) and A Dream from a Bombshell (Trikhon, The Albany).

She is also a reader for the Bruntwood Prize and was a resident artist with The Albany under their Hothouse Artists' Residency scheme in 2016.
