About me
I am a produced, award-winning UK screenwriter, working in various genres in both TV and film. I spent 18 months writing and developing a TV series with Oscar-winning Echo Lake Entertainment (TRUTH, NEBRASKA), and 12 months working for animation company Fabelizer as part of their UK writing team; writing scripts for TV, film and webisodes.I have been a finalist in more than a dozen writing competitions, including Final Draft’s Big Break contest, PAGE International Awards and the Nick Darke Award. LANCELOT won the Grand Prize in the 2013 Big Break contest, winning me a trip to LA to pick up an award at the Screenwriter’s Choice Awards at Paramount Studios. LANCELOT also won the Gold Prize in the PAGE International Awards and has drawn praise from screenwriter Simon Kinberg (X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, SHERLOCK HOLMES) and lead to meetings with Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions and J.J. Abram’s Bad Robot. KNIGHT KNIGHT came second in the 2007 Big Break contest, winning me my first trip to LA. The contest judges included the writers of STARMAN and STAND BY ME.
I spent a year on Guiding Lights, a film mentoring scheme sponsored by Working Title Films, BFI and others, and was mentored by Tony Grisoni (FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, PHILIP K. DICK’S ELECTRIC DREAMS). I also spent six months on the UK Film Council’s Development Program, receiving development assistance with PRINCE GURK - a fantasy which also won me a place on the London Screenwriters’ Festival’s Advanced Mentoring Lab with Disney/Pixar writer David Reynolds (FINDING NEMO). The script was later optioned by Aardman Animations’ former Head of Development.
I was selected for Torino Film Lab’s AdaptLab, a prestigious novel adaptation workshop, which took place in Lyon, Gentofte and Turin, and in 2011 I was selected for FilmFyn’s ‘Screenwriting for Writers and Producers’ workshop held in Odense, Denmark, run by Hollywood veteran Ned Dowd (THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, APOCALYPTO.)
A short I wrote entitled THAT THING YOU DREW premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. It won the Jury Prize at Malta’s Kinemastik festival and the Audience Award at Warsaw. FUNDAY, a short I wrote and executive produced, was nominated for a Welsh BAFTA.
My horror THE GOOD PEOPLE made the 2011 Brit List. LLANDFILL was shortlisted for the Nick Darke Award and made the 2014 Bitch List (a selection of scripts with strong female protagonists). In 2016 I won an Empire Magazine writing contest judged by Stephen Knight (TABOO, LOCKE).
