About me
Olivia Eleanor Siân Thomas MA is a dynamic, diverse and exciting media composer. An award-winning singer since the age of 12, she has always been inspired to pursue a musical career.A very successful 2012 saw her music broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in her score for ‘An Everyday Story of Afghan Folk’ in June. In November her music for the Pearl Productions ballet ‘Symba’ was performed live by a large orchestra, choir and African drumming troupe and the production is being considered to tour the UK. In December, Olivia’s bespoke music for Olympic dressage rider Dane Rawlins, founder of dressage at Hickstead, debuted in Vienna and is now heard in top-flight competitions across Europe.
In 2013, Olivia worked on a number of projects including a second series of ‘An Everyday Story of Afghan Folk’, and two large-scale musicals. In the summer, she attended her first Cannes Film Festival and was delighted to be commissioned for an original piece for a brand new area in a UK Theme Park, with the second largest carousel in Europe featuring in the centre.
Now for 2014, Olivia has created a brand new publishing company, producing and writing musical audio books from her studio in Hampshire. Keep and eye out for the launch of storyday.co.uk this summer!
Qualifications
After graduating from the University of Leeds with an honors degree in music, she continued to study for a Masters in Composition of Music for Film and Television at The University of Bristol. She now has a comprehensive and varied portfolio of work including music written for Mountview Academy, Bristol University and Exeter University. Her skills have been broadened by work on a diverse assortment of media projects which include animations and android computer games.
Olivia is pleased to compose in a wide range of styles across a spectrum of media such as film, documentary, television, radio, advertising, gaming and staged productions as well as privately commissioned works for individual patrons. She prides herself on her ability to understand exactly what a client requires and has proved that, when necessary, she can produce outstanding work at speed and under pressure. Using her talent to please the client who commissions a small, simple piece of music is as important to Olivia as creating large, challenging orchestral work.
