About me
Puvanai "Top" Tarasin is a film director of short films, music videos, and commercials.Top is comfortable and hands-on in every stage of the creative film process from the conception of ideas, to presenting those ideas to clients, to researching references, storyboarding, directing on set or location, and editing. He has worked with clients and crew from all over the Asian region and have proven to be an effective communicator, energetic team player, and creative spearhead on any given project.

Additional information:
Top's education background is in art with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts majoring in Film from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2003. He began his professional experience in 2006 at legendary Bangkok production house Phoscine, where he directed spots for clients as diverse as Honda, Toyota, Hershey’s, Red Bull, Canon, Panasonic, Mitsubishi Electric, Shiseido, and the 2009 Southeast Asian Games. During this time, he directed independent music videos and short film projects.
In 2017, the director completed the short film “Scarecrow”, under Head Tent Productions. This dark meditation on the cyclical behavior of natural forces has been officially selected for the 2017 Mykonos Biennale Film Festival in Greece and the Blow-up International Arthouse Film Festival 2017 in Chicago.
In 2018, he completed the shorts "Blast Off" (Sebola Productions-London) – an absurdist comedy - and “As It Comes” (Marco Feliciano-London) - a personal meditation on memory, the indifference of nature, and the transformative power of small occurrences – which competed in a dozen international film festivals, including the May 2018 Independent Shorts Awards, the 2018 Diversions International Short Film Festival in Croatia, and the 2018 ARFF Barcelona.
In 2019, Top directed “Your Reality” (Tatjana Anders, Top Tarasin-London) – a devastating look at gaslighting – which won Best Short Film at the September - October 2019 White Deer International Film Festival among other awards.
In 2020, he directed the end-of-the-world short "The Bunker" for the Light This Location Cinematography Competition. The film won Best Cinematography at the 2020 Thundr Short Film Showcase.
Top is also an experienced 1st AD, working on both feature films and shorts, including "British Made", "Your Eyes on Me", "To Nowhere", and "The Complex".
He is a jury member of the People's Film Festival hosted by Kino London.
