About me
I have studied Costume Design and Making at Nottingham Trent University achieving a 1st Class BA (Hons) degree in 2018, prior to this I completed a year in Fashion Design at the same institution.During my degree I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of dress, costume, theatre and film through detailed lectures and technical sessions where we learnt to accurately make a variety of historical garments including corsets, stays, military jackets and riding jackets to name a few. We were assigned productions both modern and historical to design for and encouraged to try various design techniques and explore design concepts.
In my third year I loved taking on my own production where I researched and designed 10 characters. Then I turned two of my designs into 3d garments over a 12 week period. I had to source and buy fabrics and accessories then create my outfits by drafting and editing patterns, working with performers through fittings to ensure an accurate made to measure fit.
As a recent graduate I am fairly new to the industry however I have gained valuable experience assisting in theatres throughout my studies and excellent time management and deadline keeping skills though my degree. Problem solving is something I thoroughly enjoy and through problems and limited funding for my own work, and experience on other productions I have learnt how to use my skills as costumier to problem solve when something isn't working or a quicker method is needed.
I've always had a love for theatre and storytelling, and as a visual person with a passion for costume in all forms, I love working on productions. I have always taken pride in my work and enjoy making sure anything I produce is to the high standard I expect of myself, from the fabric to the finish.

Additional information:
One of my final garments was chosen to exhibit in Oxo Tower Wharf as part of the Destinations New Creatives Graduate Exhibition exhibition and also featured in the Guardian’s Student Artwork 2018 feature.
I have recently completed an internship with Angels Costumes working along side their head costumier in London. Whilst their I worked in a variety of areas, the alterations and repairs department for outgoing productions, sorting and organising stock from returning productions and also helping to assist costumiers source items for upcoming projects. I gained so much from working with their team and their incredible collection of costumes.
I have also worked on various small theatre productions as a costume assistant helping the designer with many tasks such as sourcing, making, alterations, distressing, ageing and occasionally props.
My previous studies in fashion have added to my diverse skill set in pattern cutting and dressmaking, enabling me to work with both historical and modern clothing in standard dress sizes and made to measure garments for both the male and female figure.
I enjoy experimenting with silhouette, using non-traditional pattern cutting to create period-inspired costume.
