About me
Growing up as a performer I always had a curiosity for what goes on behind the scenes of shows so decided to get involved backstage with my local theatres; getting involved with all areas of tech from costume to following spotting to prop making. This is where I found my passion lied, I’ve always enjoyed being in the rehearsal room and working as part of a collaborative team, working together to enhance everyone’s talents. I enjoy prop making and the challenges which come from finding new inventive ways of creating something realistic and life like for a show, I have learnt these skills from working on low budget shows at LAMDA where I’ve had to use resources found around the uni and other places in London to create long lasting props.I’ve been a dep on many west end shows and enjoy the fast pace learning which comes with constantly learning new tracks on different shows. I take the skills I learn from each show and use them to enhance my work. From working on a variety of shows this has given me the chance to work with different varieties of people & teams, giving me new skills such as quick thinking on my feet when working on productions where I’ve been the only member of Stage Management in the wings and have had to deal with situations as they arise.
While working on multiple shows I’ve gained skills such as flying set in that’s stored above the wings, spading up large trucks, setting up and firing pyros. I’ve also worked with weapons and blank firing guns.
Working in immersive theatre brought on new challenges such as having to deal with not only informing technical & cast about things but ensuring the kitchen is aware at all times as to what is going on. Its helped me to expand my skills around adapting to an everchanging environment and improved my quick thinking skills when dealing with situations arising that you wouldn’t typically come across in standard theatre. Its also improved my team working skills in having to work with so many different departments who don’t always understand how shows work.
I’m good at working alone and will get my head down and get on with tasks that have been asked of me, however I also really enjoy working as part of a team and learning and adapting to everyone’s needs and experiences to help create a united team and ensure the show runs smoothly.
I enjoy meeting and interacting with a variety of people and learning from their experiences to help me better improve my work; I’m always love learning new skills and am always up for a new challenge. I also have experience in working with children as a Level 2 Swimming Teacher and have been teaching swimming for 6 years.
