Hi I'm Katie,
I have been interested in performing arts from a young age and have always loved performing for others. Quickly realising my passion for performing and entertaining others, my mum and dad signed me up for dance classes at the age of 3 at my local dance school (Elite Dance Cumbria). I have since then gone on to take multiple examinations through the British Ballet Organisation (BBO) as well as various dance shows, competitions, and local charity events.
In 2018, I successfully auditioned for a place on the BBO Dance North Jazz Scholars scheme where I receive high quality Jazz, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Commercial dance training, from the teachers such as David Needham (The Hammond). In 2019, I was also successful in retaining my place on the scheme. Earlier this year (before COVID-19), I was one of 5 girls chosen by David Needham from the North Jazz Scholars group to perform a special routine in honour of the late John Travis at the 90th BBO Dance Gala event in Birmingham. This was due to be held in April but has since been cancelled due to COVID-19 (no word on the status of the event in the future as of yet).
In 2018, I was also accepted into the Curious Dance Company. A local dance company based at QES School in Kirkby Lonsdale run by Jasper Marriott and Megan Alder-Cox. With Curious, I have taken part in dance competitions, festivals and attended the Can You Dance? Super Convention at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool in 2019.
Over the past few years, I have taken a big interest in the acting side of my dance work and decided to pursue a more acting based career. I have taken part in school productions and the local pantomime and plan to study performing arts at college when I leave secondary school in 2021. During lockdown, I have been taking part in Jordan Murphy and Mariel Letourneau's acting and MT dance workshops over ZOOM.
I am a hard working and determined individual who has been told by headshot photographer Sandi Hodkinson that I take direction well and I would love to build on my knowledge and experience by working in the industry!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile!
