The Birmingham Stage Company is the resident company of The Old Rep Theatre and celebrates its 14th anniversary in September. This award-winning company is a unique success story in British theatre, not least because it is run by an actor and 97% of its income comes entirely from the box office. It stages three productions each year, one of which tours nationally. The company's patrons are Sir Derek Jacobi and Paul Scofield, who play an active part in the life of the company.

The company offers the most comprehensive Education service in the UK as part of its national tours. In Birmingham alone, the company provides over two hundred free workshops to schools throughout the city, supported by Birmingham City Council.
