Brainstorm Productions was established in 1983 and is the winner of the NSW Dept of Education Performing Arts Unit's Frater Award "Best Feedback from Schools" category for the last eight years. We have also been awarded an Australian Violence Prevention Award from the Australian Institute of Criminology.

Brainstorm Productions presents plays about real people through a world of fantasy and fun to counter the onslaught of negative propaganda to which students are exposed. Each performance provides insights into how students can resume control of their own behaviour. All our actors are passionate about the issues in the shows, and are an inspiration to students and staff.

Director and Scriptwriter Jenny Johnson is an accomplished actress with over twenty years experience directing and writing theatre-in-education shows. She has also been a classroom teacher, having taught at Infants, Primary, Secondary, TAFE and University levels of education.

Paul Johnson, Scriptwriter, is a professional psychologist, actor and director of theatre, video and television. He has written over 35 educational plays for children on social issues. As a practising school counsellor he is able to draw on children's real-life experiences to develop the shows.

Musical Director Sean Peter has worked as a sound designer and composer for many of Australia's leading arts companies, including The Sydney Symphony Orchestra, The Sydney Theatre Company, Company B and the Sydney Opera House. Sean composes and writes the theme songs and soundscapes for all Brainstorm's shows.

We tackle the toughest issues: violence; prejudice; harassment; child abuse; domestic violence; grief; eating disorders; substance abuse; depression and discrimination! Through our wide experience and extensive research and feedback, we package our shows to present sophisticated, curriculum relevant responses to the increasingly stressful demands being made on teachers.

Brainstorm Productions tours in schools throughout QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA and TAS without funding or sponsorship. Every school day up to twentyfour Brainstorm shows entertain and inspire thousands of children. We receive a continuous flow of letters, e-mails, cards, stories, drawings and other heartwarming responses from children and teachers who have loved the shows.
