Brief Hiatus was born out of a desire to create more quality professional theatre in Brighton.

From classics, contemporary theatre, new writing, Shakespeare, local authors, foreign translations and our own devised work, we are an actor‐centred company aiming to create performances that stimulate the actors and audience equally, and to expose both to a wider range of theatrical experiences.

Theatre is an essential part of culture that can be used to create a dialogue with the audience, provide a safe access to catharsis, to talk to the future as well as making a historical record and to make magic.

Brief Hiatus also aims to create high quality work at low ticket prices so that everyone can have access to the theatre, whether they are fans of ours, students or just walk‐ups who come to see what's on.
