Castle Theatre Company is the official theatre company of University College, Durham University, and it is also one of the oldest theatre companies in Durham. Set amidst the grounds of Durham’s beautiful and ancient Castle, part of the city’s World Heritage Site, the company has produced theatre of the highest quality for three decades, and will continue to do so for years to come. The company holds strong to a tradition of producing a ‘Summer Shakespeare’ performance, which offers outdoor theatrical entertainment in the gardens of Durham Castle, before embarking on a national tour to some of England’s finest stately homes and large estates to perform to audiences across the country.
