Celador Productions was created in 1983, and over the past two decades has become one of the most successful and respected production companies in the UK, having earned a reputation for producing innovative and original programming for networks at home and abroad.

Our programming ranges from peaktime quizzes and comedies, to popular factual entertainment series and high-volume daytime game shows.

Although widely known for multi award-winning quiz show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Celador has made a number of acclaimed gameshows including Talking Telephone Numbers, The People Versus, Winning Lines and Britain’s Brainiest, many of which are watched by wordlwide audiences.

In recent years Celador Productions has made a successful expansion into factual entertainment with You Are What You Eat, its first factual entertainment series, becoming one of Channel 4’s highest rating shows when it launched in 2004. Now in its third series, the completed programme or format has been sold to 17 countries and spawned a range of successful consumer products including a series of best-selling books. Since then the company has expanded its portfolio of popular factual to include No Waste Like Home, an 8-part series for BBC2 showing viewers how to save money and the environment by making some close to home changes, and Turn Back Your Body Clock, an 8-part series for Channel 4 featuring cutting-edge medical analysis to transform contributors lifestyle and add years to their life expectancy.

Across the years the company has delivered a variety of comedy programmes, including stand-up shows, panel games, situation comedies and a range of clip shows, and enjoyed a hugely successful, long-term partnership with Jasper Carrott, with titles including Commercial Breakdown, All About Me and 24 Carrott Gold. The company’s most recent comedy is Dogtown, a six-part series which has been billed as a highlight of the new BBC Three Autumn season, and Angel Cake, a one-hour comedy drama for BBC1 starring Sarah Lancashire.

Celador’s radio production division is thriving with It’s Been A Bad Week, a staple of the Radio 2 schedule, having recently concluded its fifteenth series, and 20 new commissions from BBC Radio 2 and 4 across the past two years, including Three Off The Tee, That Was Then, This Is Now and Where In The World.
