DSBC is aiming to portray African and Caribbean people in a new, positive and empowered light via entertainment as theatre, magazine, drama, music etc. and Media.DBC (Daughters of the black Continent) was first funded in 1998 as a branch of a charity called kairos-jeunesse. Miriam Depasse, Jaqueline Ngoya and Christine Rugurika produced the play ‘Cinderella or the African Fever’ for 4 shows (3 in Brussels and 1 in Paris).In 2004, Christine Rugurika decided to change DBC in DSBC (The Daughters & Sons of the Black Continent) and pursue the ‘Cinderella’ project in London, where she was residing. In collaboration with PartnersComm, she produced the show ‘Cinderella under the African & Caribbean Fever’ for 13 dates in London (oh Art / Oxford HOuse, the Albany, the Space).
