The great theatre director Peter Brook said " I can take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whilst someone else is watching him, and this is all that is needed for an act of theatre to be engaged." We are inspired by this concept towards a minimalist approach to theatre.

We are based in North West London. We produce plays and small scale musicals to the highest standard we can. As our name suggests, we try to strip theatre making back to it's essentials. For us, It is always the play and the quality of the acting that matter. Previous productions include The Importance of Being Earnest and David Hare's Racing Demon.

- A New Company With A New Philosophy
Empty Space offers performance opportunities to actors and singers who are committed to their work, whether full time professionals or not. We welcome members who take acting seriously, but themselves less so!

Although we don't get paid for acting, there is nothing amateurish about us. We strive to make every production as good as it can possibly be. We believe that actors are on the stage to bring the play to life and then to entertain the audience. We also believe that each of us is on stage to make our fellow actors look good; not to show off.

- Amateur/Professional
Traditional barriers between amateur and professional have become increasingly blurred and irrelevant in recent years. We believe that success is determined by quality of work, not by status or labels. A willingness to strive for the highest standards is the only essential requirement. This can be found as much among committed unpaid actors as paid professionals.

- A Company of Practitioners
For us, the emphasis is on performance. Rehearsals are obviously essential. However, we regard them strictly as a means to end; not as something to wallow in!
