This is the story of two wonderful, brave and motivated women - a devoted Mother and Daughter who, after suffering the effects of breast cancer, were both determined to do something specific and unique to raise money towards research and treatment, and in that way give something back. They set up the Future Dreams Charity in 2008.
Sylvie Henry was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer nineteen years ago. She was absolutely devastated when five years ago her daughter Danielle Leslie was also diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35. In October 2007 Sylvie was diagnosed with inoperable and incurable primary lung cancer, and unbelievably three weeks before she lost her brave battle in July 2009, Danielle was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in her lungs. Despite several courses of chemotherapy and two operations to remove the tumours on each lung, Danielle sadly passed away in September 2010.

Despite their prognoses, Sylvie and Danielle were determined to carry on working towards their goal of raising essential funds for further research and new treatments. As they had many years of experience working with the theatre as dance and performing arts teachers, they decided to produce a West End Variety Show.

The first show ‘For One Night Only’ was performed at The Savoy theatre to a sell-out audience in November 2008, raising an incredible £400,000. Due to huge demand, a second show was scheduled for November 2009. Remarkably, despite Sylvie’s ill health at the time, she conducted production meetings from her hospital bed and even whilst undergoing chemotherapy. Only a handful of special people have the passion and strength to be so altruistic. Tragically, however, she passed away before the curtains were raised once again. Danielle bravely took the decision that the show must go on as a celebration of Sylvie’s life and the audience at the Piccadilly Theatre was wowed once again by Future Dreams’ second production ‘One More Time’.

Danielle’s wish was that her and her mum’s legacy continued and so when Danielle passed away her brother Dale assumed the role of CEO of Future Dreams. He and the rest of the committee were determined to honour Danielle and Sylvie with a third show, ‘She’s The One’ which took place in April 2011 back where it all began, the Savoy Theatre.
These three amazing West End Variety Shows have been hugely successful, raising £1,450,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in just three nights.

Dale remains, like his mother and sister, utterly determined that Future Dreams fundraising will continue.
