Equus3.jpg(64067bytes)In Shakespeare's day it would have cost the equivalent of £5 to stand in the pit to see the play at The Globe Theatre. These people where often the humblest of spectators. They frequented the 'ground' or yard of the theatre and thus were called "The Groundlings".
This is, therefore, how the name for the Groundlings Theatre Company came about. Our aim is to provide good quality theatre at an affordable price. The most important people in the theatre are the audience; without you there is no theatre.
