The Hallmark Channel is a TV channel owned by Crown Media Holdings, Inc., which also owns the Hallmark Cards, Inc. the greeting card company.

The Channel operates 24/7 hours and is famed for its family friendly programming. It produces original movies & mini-series, as well as showing acquired television series & lifestyle programs.

The channel launched in 2001 and reaches over 85 million homes in the US alone. While the channel has no official political leaning, it has gained a following from conservative households who believe its programming holds true to more traditional ideals; however this is not an official stance from the network.

The channel has roots in religious TV, as it owned a large stake of the Odyssey Network (alongside The Jim Henson Company) which was formed after a merger between the American Christian Television System (ACTS) and the Vision Interfaith Satellite Network (VISN). In 2001 the channel officially rebranded as The Hallmark Channel.

The Hallmark Channel is famous for its 'Countdown To Christmas' season in which it shows seasonal shows and films in the latter part of the year. Which the first in-house Christmas movie was shown in 2000, the 'Countdown To Christmas' first began in 2009.
